Joe Rogan Draws Parallels Between Jon Jones and NBA Legend Michael Jordan

Jon Jones mesmerized MMA fans worldwide with a brilliant showcase of striking, grappling, and wrestling skills, solidifying his status as one of the greatest fighters in the sport. Renowned MMA commentator Joe Rogan, among many others, holds Jones in high regard, considering him the best MMA fighter of all time. Recently, during an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, comedian Dan Soder drew a comparison between Jones and NBA legend Michael Jordan.

Soder, attending his first live UFC event at UFC 159 where Jones faced Chael Sonnen, witnessed Jones’s dominant performance. Impressed by what he saw, Soder declared Jones to be the “Jordan of fighting,” emphasizing his unparalleled greatness in the sport.

Despite facing challenges outside the octagon, Jones remained a favorite of Rogan, who continued to regard him as one of the best fighters. UFC CEO Dana White echoed this sentiment, repeatedly declaring Jones as the greatest in multiple interviews, including a recent appearance on Julian Edelman’s podcast.

Jones made a triumphant return to the UFC after a three-year hiatus, winning the heavyweight title at UFC 285. Although a title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 was scheduled, Jones had to withdraw due to an injury.

Reflecting on Jones’s past, one of the most notable events was his intense rivalry with Chael Sonnen, culminating in their clash at UFC 159. Rogan provided commentary for the event, where Jones convincingly defeated Sonnen in the first round. The rivalry originated when Jones refused to face Sonnen on short notice at UFC 151, a decision that angered Dana White. Despite breaking his toe during the fight, Jones remained focused on dominating Sonnen, a fact Rogan highlighted in a recent podcast episode with Dan Soder.

Sonnen, experiencing back-to-back losses in UFC title fights, had previously lost to Anderson Silva. However, he and Jones have reconciled since then, sharing interactions at a recent event in Riyadh, where Jones made a surprise appearance, and Sonnen contributed to the PFL’s broadcast team.
