Patrick Ewing’s Insight: Choosing Jordan Over LeBron for Strategic Brilliance

Patrick Ewing expresses his preference for Michael Jordan over LeBron James, citing Jordan’s killer mentality as the deciding factor. Ewing, having faced off against Jordan since their college days and throughout their professional careers, believes he knows MJ intimately, having played in the same conference and entered the NBA a season after him.

During a 2016 interview with Dan Patrick, when asked to choose between the two all-time greats, Ewing unhesitatingly selected Michael Jordan. He acknowledged LeBron James as a great player in the current era but emphasized the distinct qualities that set Jordan apart.

“LeBron James is a great player in this era,” remarked Ewing. “But he is not Michael Jordan. You know it’s two different animals. Michael Jordan was a killer, an assassin. LeBron is more like a facilitator; he’s one of the guys that you’re gonna give the ball, and he’s probably thinking shoot first before pass where Michael, you give him the ball, he’s thinking he’s going to score 50 on you then he’s gonna pass.”

Ewing also addressed the hypothetical scenario of choosing a teammate between Jordan and LeBron. Unsurprisingly, the Knicks’ Hall of Fame center opted for his Dream Team teammate, Michael Jordan, citing his apparent reasons without further elaboration.
